• Discuss, particularly with facilities with vacancies. Things that are usually waived: admin fees, extended promo rates, and it gets a yes more often than expected.

Then there is a time element, but not as consistent. Demand is high during summer when families are on the move between school years. Quotes collected in February or March are generally milder, and by a significant margin.

Arrange the numbers in a line and put the case together. Renting up 20%, or an apartment upgrade that costs several thousand dollars more a year, for a storage unit that rents for AED 300 to 900/month. The people who accept that saving are the people who do the mundane work: three quotes normalized to AED per square foot, including VAT, an inventory that is measured instead of eyeballed, etc., and a proper interpretation of the exclusions.

In all that takes an afternoon. Which, if that’s the case these days, might be your most expensive afternoon of the year, due to Dubai’s living standards these days.
